When a patient finishes treatment, the most important step begins: prevention. Periodic preventive consultations are necessary and should be carried out every 6 months for the following reasons:

That's because preventing a cavity injury from installing is much better than treating the disease already installed.

Review of specific brushing techniques for each patient and detection of areas of plaque accumulation that require greater care.

If there is any caries, it is usually early and can be treated more conservatively, with minimal wear on the tooth.

Maintaining healthy gums through periodontal monitoring and

professional cleaning. Removal of tartar and stains from teeth that cannot be removed by brushing or flossing. This prevents the advancement of periodontal diseases.

Mouth cancer prevention.

Follow-up of restorations and prostheses already made and replacements of older ones that already show failures and/or infiltrations.

Detection of chips, cracks and excessive wear on natural teeth, as well as their position and alignment after orthodontic treatments.

Lower cost of preventive treatments compared to restorative ones.

Periodic fluoride applications performed in a dental office help to reduce caries rates in adults and children.
