Vivera Retainers

Updated: Nov 23, 2022

The main advantage of Vivera retainers is the fact that they are removable, that is, there is no need to place the lower fixed bar, normally used at the end of the treatment in the lower teeth. As a result, the patient can clean their teeth and floss normally. Another advantage is the fact that they are transparent, being very discreet, almost imperceptible when placed in the mouth. Due to the material with which they are made, the patient can use it only for sleeping, which increases the practicality and comfort of the patient.

HOW DO VIVERA RETAINERS WORK?

When the patient opts for Vivera retainers, three sets of retainers are included, which are used for six to 12 months each. That is, the patient will have a period of two to three years of containment. It is a product of great quality and effectiveness, but the patient must use it every day to sleep. Don't forget this part! Containment in the canister does not retain anyone's tooth position!

HOW IS IT DONE AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE THE CONTAINERS?

They are made from the intra-oral 3D scanning of the patient's teeth from the arch performed in our Clinic, with the iTero scanner). As it is made from the scan, it guarantees maximum comfort and adaptation of the retainers. The retention period is around 25/30 days, as they are produced in Costa Rica and have to go through the import process.

CAN I EXCHANGE MY LOWER FIXED CONTAINMENT FOR VIVERA?

Yes you can. We scanned the patient with the lower fixed retainer and asked to make the Vivera. Fixed containment is virtually removed in the digital model. When he arrives at Vivera, we remove the brace and the patient wears the new retainer to sleep every day.

WHO HAS USED A FIXED APPLIANCE CAN USE VIVERA RETAINERS?

Yup. Regardless of the technique used for orthodontic treatment, it is possible to request Vivera retainers.

HOW LONG SHOULD I USE THE RETAINERS?

It is the orthodontist who will determine the retention period. It depends on how the teeth were at the beginning of treatment and on the protocol used by each orthodontist. The rule is generally: two years of use for the upper, and for the lower, continuous use is recommended.

WHICH PATIENTS ARE VIVERA RETAINERS INDICATED?

For all patients who are finishing their orthodontic treatment and for those who have fixed lower retainers and are uncomfortable with not threading and have difficulty cleaning.
